Paper Submission

Submission closed May 18.

Authors are welcome to submit original contributions on the topic of intelligent data analysis.

The conventional reviewing process, which favours incremental advances on established work, can discourage the kinds of papers that IDA 2018 hopes to publish. The reviewing process will address this issue explicitly: referees will evaluate papers against the stated goals of the symposium, and any paper for which at least one Program Chair Advisor writes an informed, thoughtful, positive review will be accepted irrespective of other reviews.

LONG and SHORT papers will undergo a regular review process by the Program Committee, while other submissions are reviewed by Program Chair Advisors.

All accepted LONG paper contributions will be published in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series by Springer-Verlag. Proceedings from Previous IDA symposia have appeared in the same series in the years 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2003 , 2001, 1999, and in 1997.

It is required that at least one author of each accepted paper registers for the conference.

Formatting instructions

LONG and SHORT papers: Contributions, written in English, must be formatted according to the guidelines of the Lecture Notes of Computer Science (LNCS) series by Springer-Verlag. The LNCS author instructions are available from Springer. We strongly recommend using the LNCS template for LaTeX. The length of the contribution, including figures, title pages, references and appendices, must be between 10-12 pages for the Proceedings Track (LONG papers), and between 2-9 pages for SHORT papers.

To submit a POSTER: Please prepare a pdf with two pages, where page 1 is a title page that contains a title, list of authors, and a brief abstract, and page 2 is the poster itself.

To submit a SLIDE-DECK: Please submit your slides (at most 16 slides!) in pdf format, one slide per page. The first page of your pdf must be a separate title page that contains a title, list of authors, and a brief abstract.

To submit a VIDEO: Please submit a one-page pdf that contains a title, list of authors, a brief abstract that describes the video, and a link to the video file (in AVI or MOV format). The video must be be available online at the same time as you upload the pdf to Easychair. Maximum duration of the video is 5 minutes!

Authors may not submit any paper which is under review elsewhere or which has been accepted for publication in a journal or another conference; neither will they submit their papers elsewhere during the review period of IDA 2018.

Submissions that deviate from these guidelines may be rejected without consideration.

Submission

Papers must be submitted electronically, in PDF format, via the IDA 2018 submission website (EasyChair).

Please indicate the correct submission type in the submission form! There are two options: 1) LONG or SHORT paper, 2) POSTER, SLIDE-DECK, or VIDEO.

The strict deadline for paper submission is 18 May 2018 23:59:59 SST (Standard Samoa Time).

FAQ

Does IDA have a ‘double-blind’ peer reviewing policy?
No, IDA uses standard single-blind peer reviewing, meaning that reviewers are unknown to the authors, but authors are known to the reviewers. This implies that authors should not hide their identity in the paper.

What should I do if my paper is longer than the page limit?
Shorten it; submissions that deviate from the guidelines may be rejected without consideration. The length of the contribution, including figures, title pages, references and appendices, must be between 10-12 pages for the Proceedings Track (LONG papers), and between 2-9 pages for SHORT papers.

I am not sure I can make it before the deadline. Will the deadline be extended?
No, there will be no deadline extensions.

Will there be a separate call for PhD Posters & Videos?
Yes, there will be a Call for PhD Posters & Videos as announced on the poster.
